Overall Job Purpose
Epsilon operates Network POP sites Globally within 3rd party Datacentre sites, along within its own Datacentres.
The Datacentre & Field Engineer is part of a regional team responsible for all operational elements of uptime, delivery of customer services, installation, faulting & maintenance of all the equipment within the Datacentre & POP sites.
The Datacentre & Field engineer works closely with the Facilities & Datacentre Manager, Field Supervisor and Epsilon Customer Service Centre (CSC) to ensure works are completed within the agreed departmental SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
Datacentre Engineer (Primary Role)
- Respond & assist with CSC Faults within 1 hour.
- On Call Rota – Respond & assist with CSC. 2 Hour SLA to site.
- M&E equipment alarm monitoring.
- First line support for M&E equipment.
- Respond & assist with Provisioning tasks.
- Labelling
- Equipment installation.
- Basic equipment configuration.
- Faulting
- Installation or fibre & copper infrastructure cabling.
- Responsible for uploading site records, equipment, patching & new sites onto eStream & ethOSS Tool.
- Assist logistics with hardware picking & shipping requests.
- Carry out physical hardware stock checks.
- Online platform – checking in & out of hardware requests.
Job Description: – Field Engineer (Secondary Role)
- Respond & assist with CSC Faults within 1 hour.

- Pre-Staging & testing of new equipment & network deployments.

- Respond & assist with Faults & deployments of customer equipment & network installs.
- Responsible for uploading and maintaining current site rack pictures on Microsoft Teams.
- Responsible for uploading site records, equipment, patching & new sites onto eStream & ethOSS Tool.
- Responsible for POP site routine maintenance – Filter cleaning & equipment function checks.
- Assist logistics with hardware picking & shipping requests.
- Carry out physical hardware stock checks.
- Online platform – checking in & out of hardware requests.
Job Description: – Staging (Tertiary Role)
- Pre-stage & Installation of network equipment before deployment.
- Cabling
- Labelling
- Basic Configuration.
- Faulting
- Testing of function of equipment.
- Creation of As-Builds & BOMs.
- Work with Engineering teams to deploy & integrate equipment into the network POPs.
- Initiate and implement migrations on network equipment.
- Upload & update internal records systems with new equipment types.
- Responsible for uploading site records. Equipment, patching & new sites onto eStream & ethOSS Tool.
- Ensure site pictures are refreshed & uploaded after an equipment installation or major rack works.
- Carry out routine & preventative maintenance on network equipment.
- Provide weekly status reports to Project manager on Pre-staging, Equipment & Network deployments.
Job Requirements
Essential Experience with Faulting, Installation & Commissioning of:
- Equipment – Nokia / Alcatel SDH Transmission equipment (1642 / 1660 / 1678).
- Installing and commissioning SDH networks. Using the above equipment platforms.
- Equipment – Juniper / BTI Transmission network equipment (MX / ACX / BTI7200 / BTI 7060).
- Installing and commissioning Ethernet network. Using the above equipment platforms.
- Equipment – Juniper / BTI / Ekinops (DWDM / CWDM).
- Installing and commissioning CWDM & DWDM networks. Using the above equipment platforms.
- Equipment – Cisco (Switch / Router).
- Installing & commissioning DC & AC Power systems. (Rectifiers / PDU’s / ATS Switch)
- First line support for Datacentre M&E Equipment (UPS-Uninterrupted power supply / AHU-Air Handling units / Generators / Switch Gear.
- Ability to use MS Office/Visio/O365, CAD & Teams.
