Overall Job Purpose
Epsilon operates Network POP sites Globally within 3rd party Datacenter sites, along within its own Datacenters. The Hybrid Field & Staging engineers are responsible as part of a regional team for all operational elements of uptime, delivery of customer services, installation, faulting & maintenance of all the equipment within the POP sites.
The Hybrid Field & Staging engineer works closely with the Facilities & Data centre Manager, Field Supervisor and Epsilon Customer Service Centre (CSC) to ensure works are completed within the agreed departmental SLAs.
Working Hours:
09:00 – 18:00 Monday to Friday
Callout – 4 Week rolling Rota
Location – 50% Office based Central London (EC2A 4NW) & 50% Field based within London & globally and other global POPs
Job Description: – Field Engineer
- Respond & assist with CSC Faults
- Respond & assist with CSC – On call Rota
- Respond & assist with Provisioning tasks
- Pre-Staging & testing of new equipment & network deployments
- Cabling
- Labelling
- Basic equipment configuration
- Faulting
- Respond & assist with deployments of equipment & networks within the field
- Respond & assist with deployments of equipment & networks overseas
- Respond & assist with Faults & deployments of customer equipment & network installs
- Responsible for uploading and maintaining current site rack pictures on Microsoft Teams (Location TBD)
- Responsible for uploading site records. Equipment, patching & new sites onto eStream & ethOSS Tool
- Responsible for POP site routine maintenance – Filter cleaning & equipment function checks
- Respond & assist with COLO Cover
- Respond & assist with Logistics Technician work requests
Job Description: – Staging
- Pre-stage & Installation of network equipment before deployment

- Creation of As-Builds & BOMs
- Work with Engineering teams to deploy & integrate equipment into the network POPs
- Raising & Submission of internal “Change Control Management Forms”
- Initiate and implement migrations on network equipment
- Upload & update internal records systems
- With new equipment types
- Record changes after migrations
- Ensure site pictures are refreshed & uploaded after an equipment installation or major rack works
- Carry out Routine & Preventative maintenance on network equipment
- Provide weekly Status reports to Project manager on Pre-staging, Equipment & Network deployments
Job Description: – Datacenter Engineer
- Provide Datacenter cover on a rolling Rota
- Respond & assist with CSC Faults
- Respond & assist with CSC – On call Rota
- M&E equipment alarm monitoring
- First line support for M&E equipment
- Respond & assist with Provisioning tasks

- Basic equipment configuration

- Installation or fibre & copper infrastructure cabling
Accountabilities
- Ensure Epsilon meets its agreed customer SLAs. Both Internal & external.
- Respond to faults within 1 hour.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential Experience with Faulting, Installation & Commissioning of:
- Equipment – Nokia / Alcatel SDH Transmission equipment (1642 / 1660 / 1678)
- Installing and commissioning SDH networks. Using the above equipment platforms
- Equipment – Juniper / BTI Transmission network equipment (MX / ACX / BTI7200 / BTI 7060)
- Installing and commissioning Ethernet network. Using the above equipment platforms
- Equipment – Juniper / BTI / Ekinops (DWDM / CWDM)
- Installing and commissioning CWDM & DWDM networks. Using the above equipment platforms
- Equipment – Cisco (Switch / Router)
- Installing & commissioning DC & AC Power systems. (Rectifiers / PDU’s / ATS Switch)
- First line support for Datacentre M&E Equipment (UPS-Uninterrupted power supply / AHU-Air Handling units / Generators / Switch Gear
- Ability to use MS Office/Visio/O365, CAD & Teams
