In May last year, we announced that we had begun a phased deployment of 100 Gigabyte per second (100G) packet optical switched Ethernet technology across our global backbone network. The deployment has had two successful phases with a third coming online later.
Beginning our Journey to 100G
Phase 1 saw the extension of 100G services throughout the US, Europe, and across the Atlantic. We successfully upgraded our United States core network connecting New York, New Jersey, Ashburn, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Jose, Seattle, St. Louis and Chicago.
We most recently completed Phase 2 which involved 100G upgrades to our pan-European network, introducing 100G services to sites across key hub locations in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Marseille.
With 100G Ethernet services now available across our US and Europe network, users of our Infiny Software-Defined Networking (SDN) platform can scale up their services from one simple and intuitive platform.
We are already seeing how our customers are benefitting from granular bandwidth options from 2Mbps to 100Gbps without needing to commit to long term lock-in contracts. Such scalability and flexibility in the network proved to be a valuable capability in an era driven by Cloud-based services.
We are now in Phase 3 deployment across Asia Pacific which will soon see the completion of our global rollout. This is a very important phase as we are already experiencing massive traffic growth across the region with explosive growth in digitalised services as well as digital transformation projects across the service provider and enterprise landscape.
The Cloud and Interconnection Market
While the Cloud has matured in other regions, adoption in Asian emerging markets are catching up fast. According to IDC, spending on public Cloud services and infrastructure in countries across Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) is forecast to grow from US$15.08 billion in 2018 to US$32.27 billion in 2021.
Our customers and partners understand the consequences of bandwidth constraints and with Epsilon, they can continuously enhance their service experience with hyper-scalable connectivity. They gain a suite of connectivity services through a single point of connection to our global network fabric – interconnect between data centres, secure direct connection to the Cloud and remote peering at Internet Exchange Points (IXP).
As end users become more connected and demand for bandwidth-hungry applications grows, our customers and partners can extend their reach without limits to match these new expectations. With a simple on-demand platform like Infiny, they have the freedom and full control over networking whenever they need.
Fuelling New Demands
Over the past years, we have dedicated ourselves to continuously improve our offering. That is why we are investing in upgrading our network with the latest capabilities to support our customers and partners as they adopt and build new technologies in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain and other Cloud-based services.
By building hyper-scalability into our network, we are future-proofing our platform and ensuring that our partners have the foundation to deliver seamless on-demand networking around the world.
