An Asian multinational investment holding conglomerate has selected Epsilon to enable direct connection to the Cloud to transform its internal management systems. The conglomerate owns and operates businesses across five continents and is involved in several markets including property, hospitality, logistics, media, maritime, commodities, environment and philanthropy.
The multinational organisation has already deployed its Cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in its Hong Kong office using a direct connection to Microsoft Azure. It has achieved great results from the Cloud-based ERP system and wanted to roll out a similar architecture in their business in other countries.
Singapore is a strategic market and also one of the established bases for the business. It was looking to replicate the same setup in its Singapore office with reliable, efficient and scalable direct connection to Microsoft Azure. Due to the nature of their business, performance and security are their top priorities. It preferred to work with a Cloud-centric service provider who can offer direct access to Microsoft Azure with a guaranteed uptime and high-performance connectivity.
With multiple business units across Singapore, the enterprise wanted to enable remote access to the ERP system and have high-performing connectivity for running workloads in the Cloud. The main objective of moving to the Cloud was to lower long-term cost and accelerate its business efficiency. However, it needed a private connection for secure and reliable accessibility to its ERP system.
Another challenge that the business faced was finding a suitable connectivity provider that could provide hyper-scalable yet cost-efficient direct access to Microsoft Azure. It is also concerned with the complexity of managing multiple Cloud connections and would prefer to have visibility over the services and the performances. The organisation wanted a direct Cloud connectivity solution that allows it to move the ERP system to the Cloud with minimum disruption, while still having an option to connect other Cloud Service Providers in the future.
Epsilon understood that the customer required secure, reliable and high-performing connectivity to Microsoft Azure. The success of this project is an important milestone in their journey of transforming its business in the Cloud. With its servers already being hosted in Epsilon’s Tier 3 colocation facility in Singapore, it relied on Epsilon’s knowledge of its existing infrastructure to support their move to the Cloud.
Epsilon’s team of engineers worked with the customer to deliver two ExpressRoute circuits to Microsoft Azure from Epsilon’s Point of Presence (PoP) located at Equinix SG1 and Global Switch Tai Seng in Singapore. The diverse routes strengthen resiliency and ensure high availability of the Cloud connection.
Epsilon’s Cloud Connect solution offered the enterprise a flexible and secure internet-bypass solution to directly connect to global CSPs through its MEF-certified Ethernet service. It is an end-to-end Cloud connectivity offering that supported the business in deploying its ERP workload on Microsoft Azure with no disruption to their operations. The enterprise is now able to securely access its Cloud-based ERP system with a cost-efficient connectivity model.
With the Infiny by Epsilon Software-Defined Networking (SDN) platform, the enterprise gained a simple way to procure, deploy and manage their Cloud connections. This also allows it to establish direct connection to multiple CSPs, adding a future proof solution that offers a new level of flexibility and agility to scale bandwidth to suit its needs.
”Enterprises are constantly going through digital transformation to accelerate their business efficiency and growth. The Cloud has given enterprises new level of agility and increased their time to market, but also brought about new challenges in IT security and scalability. We have partnered with world-leading CSPs to provide secure internet bypass access to the Cloud, giving enterprises a flexible and scalable solution that supports their Cloud strategy. Using Infiny, enterprises can connect to multiple Clouds with on-demand, private connections all on a single self-service platform.Mark DaleyDirector, Digital Strategy and Business Development, Epsilon
